The building along with its surrounding environment can relate to each of the topics: ritual, ideoloy, security, and authority.
Ritual: The Monument has become a place of public admiration for many Americans along with any foreign visitors to Washington D.C. It serves as a place where many migrate to show respect for the founding father of our nation, and evokes a sense of pride that our country holds a building so beautiful.
Ideology: When one looks upon the Washington Monument, he or she cannot help but feel a sense of pride. It embodies the American ideal: liberty, sovereignty, and independence. These ideals that guide our lives daily are almost personified in such a powerful building.
Security: Tall, sleek sides, sharp edges, and a fine point give the monument a strength and security in appearance. Onlookers should feels safe in the company that is a symbol of the American values which protect them from persecution for unalienable rights.
Authority: Again, the structure of this building demands a respect and reverance from observers that is witnessed in the attitude and behavior of those close.
